Ms. Lorenzen
I have been the choir and theater director at Capitol Hill Gifted & Talented Junior High School since 1994 and teaching in the Saint Paul Public School District since 1985.

I continue to be amazed by the talent and enthusiasm of the students here at Capitol Hill.  There are many new and exciting changes taking place this year. Since we are moving to trimesters, we will actually be having three concerts

rather than the just the two as in previous years. This will also affect the musical schedule. The Musical Production class will only be one trimester but the afterschool component will continue until the performances at the end of January.

Another exciting change for this year is that instead of teaching General Music, I will be teaching a Music Technology class which will emphasize piano keyboard and music composition

skills.  This class will be a great opportunity for students who prefer not to be involved in the performance classes such as choir, band, or orchestra.

As usual, I will continue to have the Concert Choir (Advanced Choir), Treble Choir (Beginning Girls Choir), and Ragazzi Choir (Beginning Boys Choir).  The Concert Choir is a year-long class and the other Beginning Choir classes can be either year-long

or 2 trimesters if their are scheduling conflicts.  During the third trimester I will be combining the Beginning Choirs to create a Mixed Choir experience for those who are able to be involved for the full year.

Funds are needed in support of the following:
- Music Technology Class Equipment (new exciting class being offered starting trimester 2, with $8,500 worth of equipment needed)
- Funds for Musical Production for Capitol Hill Community---this year's show is "The Music Man, Jr." (performances in January 2010)
- Sound System equipment and support of Tech Crew needs for the Capitol Hill Community (replacing and repairing equipment)
