still not been filled. A coaching position is open for math. A literacy coach
position has been filled by Grace Raymond and Melanie Crawford.
Asst. Prinicipal Bridgeman overviewed the budget to date
based on enrollment. Discussion stemming from the report will be forwarded to
Principal Mariucci by Patrick Dale, Chair of the SCIP Subcommittee.
Asst. Principal Bridgeman overviewed the District’s
procedures by which the school handles parent issues with personnel.
Sub Committee/Liaison
Reports
The subcommittees have not yet begun to convene.
PTO – PTO has been (1) reviewing plans for using funds based
on anticipated income, (2) facilitating how to assign/appoint a classroom
parent volunteer for each classroom to be the point of communication for PTO
announcements and other PTO coordinated activities, (3) the next phase of the
playground, and (4) the challenges for safe drop off and the Rondo traffic
plan. There was no resolution on the traffic plan challenges.
Old Business
Cougar Awards – Moved to table until Principal Mariucci is
present at the next meeting.
Rondo Traffic Plan – A suggestion was made that the Outreach
and Communication Committee of Site Council work with the PTO to address this
issue to come to a resolution. A new communication strategy to achieve
understanding by parents needs to be addressed. A motion was made and approved
to follow through on this suggestion.
Security-Lock down (doors, PA system)10/4 update –
- The
atriums do not have a PA system. Some of the PA systems were not working
during the lock down on 10/4. This is a recurring issue from the 2006-07
school year.
- Is
there a process/policy for students outside during a lock down?
- It was
noted that the facilities request for Capitol Hill last year included
security issue requests. The District denied these requests.
- A
request was made to have Will Waterkamp, District Facilities Security, be
present at a near future Site Council meeting.
- The
Site Council requests an update from Principal Mariucci during the
Administration Report at the next Site Council meeting.
New Business
Bus Transportation requests – There are a number of kids who
go to a different after school address than their pick-up address in the
morning. The District will not accept requests for establishing new stops until
after the start of the year. There were numerous requests that could not be
honored until three to four weeks into the start of the school year. It was
suggested that Site Council could be a voice to the District, Jim Berneche, as
to how this could be resolved. It was also suggested that the Capitol Hill
school contact give the Site Council officers an update on the issues and/or
process.
Adjournment
Meeting was adjourned at 7:10 pm. Next Meeting is scheduled
for Monday, November 12th at 5:30 pm.
