Capitol Hill Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) Meeting Minutes

Monday, June 5, 2006 7:00 pm

Minutes from the May 1, 2006 PTO Meeting were approved as submitted.

Carnival Recap (Annie Yetter): Regarding the counterfeit tickets, Annie will draft a letter acknowledging the letters of apology and explaining where the money earned at the Carnival is directed, which Louis will send to the students concerned.

Anne Hartnett reported that almost all the money for the Silent Auction was collected.  Not all the items sold, so Silent Auction may need to be rethought next year.  Some of the larger baskets might need to be split up into smaller baskets at a lower price.

New Student Night (Annie Yetter): New Student Night is June 6.  Kristin and Annie will scoop ice cream and Camille Feng has arranged to sell Capitol Hill t-shirts.

Treasurer's Report (Anne Hartnett):  We will spent approximately $3500 on Writer's Workshop books this year that were not originally in the budget.  At the end of the year, we should have approximately $13,000 to carry over.

Voting in New Officers for 2006-2007: Treasurer-elect is Julie Taylor. Audrey Matson-Lies is the new volunteer coordinator.  Kristin Cleveland is the PTO Chair for next year.  We are still looking for a PTO chair-elect.  We are also looking for someone to manage the school directory and a Site Council liaison.  Anne Borgwardt will be the teacher conference meal coordinator, milk lid collector, and will do gardening as well. The PTO Chair ceremonial tiara was passed from Annie Yetter to Kristin Cleveland.

Gardening and T-shirts, etc. (Mary Reis):  The Rondo Booth has enough volunteers.  Some teachers are volunteering, but would like adult size Capitol Hill t-shirts to wear.  Annie will try to track down some older style adult sizes.  Gardening is not progressing so well - some plants got whacked by a weed wacker.  Mary is trying to find someone to pass the gardening on to.  She will need to meet with the person to explain the plan and will attempt to make a diagram of what was planted.

Crosswalk (Darlene Haecker): The crosswalk will be done in the Fall across Mackubin.

Brainstorming issues/ideas for PTO for 2006-2007: Web site isn't up to date and the calendar needs to be updated.  Perhaps some students can do some of the updating.  PTO is thinking that we need a new person who comes to PTO who is responsible for the whole web site and coordinates web site input.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.

Respectfully submitted by Randi Madisen, PTO Secretary
