Challenging Academically Gifted and Talented Students in a Diverse School Community

Capitol Hill Magnet School is a full-time academically gifted and talented program for students in grades 1 – 8.  Learners experience a challenging academic program designed to develop skills in critical and creative thinking. Acceleration (fast-paced learning) combined with complex content allow for in-depth study.

Our community nurtures a school climate of respect, high expectations, civic responsibility and cultural understanding.

Admissions to Capitol Hill

Elementary (grades 1 – 6) admission is based on identification of gifted/talented status. Admissions to the secondary grades (7 – 8) is through open enrollment. See the Admissions section for more information.

NNAT2 Dates Set for Identification for Gifted Services

This is a reminder of the November 2, 2009 registration deadline for the NNAT2 test, which establishes eligibility for Gifted/Talented services within St. Paul Public Schools. This includes eligibility to apply for admission to Capitol Hill Magnet School. (This does not apply to Capitol Hill students, who have already been identified.)

Important Influenza Update

Dr. Betsy Garcia, Capitol Hill's nurse, reports, “This week we are starting to see a lot more Influenza A and H1N1. The nurse's office is again seeing 60 or more students per day.”

Beyond the precautions that we've all heard, Dr. Garcia stresses that families need to plan now to care for a child at home in case of illness.

Also, the CDC has released updated information, and the Minnesota Department has announced the immediate availability of a toll-free influenza information line. Read on...
